Whitby East Ward 4 deserves practical representation that respects residents, spends carefully, and keeps people informed. In this short two and a half minute video, I share the top three priorities I'll bring to Town Council if elected.
1. Respecting your Tax Dollars
Families, seniors, homeowners, renters, and local businesses are all feeling the pressure of rising costs. I will work for a 0% Town property-tax increase for the next two years, followed by no Town tax increase above the cost of living after that.
That means asking hard questions before approving spending, looking for savings, protecting the services residents rely on, and making sure every dollar delivers real value. Town Council does not control the Region of Durham or education portions of the property-tax bill, so this commitment is specifically about the Town-controlled share.
2. Accountability & Transparency
With 16 years as a local business owner, I understand that budgets require discipline, clear priorities, and honest answers. I will bring that approach to Town Hall through careful budget reviews, plain-language explanations of major spending decisions, and stronger independent financial oversight, including support for an independent Auditor General.
You as a resident shouldn't have to dig through lengthy reports or sit through hours of meetings to understand how your money is being spent.
3. Better Communication
After more than 30 years as a software engineer, I know that good systems make information easier to find and easier to use. Residents deserve clearer updates from Town Hall, better ways to raise concerns, and straightforward explanations before major decisions are made.
